The head coach of the University of Michigan Football team was abruptly fired this week following an alleged inappropriate relationship with a staff member. The claim was investigated by the university, and with evidence against him they moved forward on his removal.
Sherrone Moore, 39, has been the team’s head coach since 2024 following the team’s cheating scandal and head coach John Harbaugh’s departure. Moore led his team to a 9-3 overall record, and has continued to recruit class act players out of high school.
The news broke on Wednesday that Moore had been fired from his role with the Wolverines following an investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship with a fellow staff member. While many were shocked by the allegations and the firing to begin with, the walls of Moore began crumbling as he was placed into police custody just hours after the announcement was made public.
While the details are not confirmed on the allegations or the charges he is facing, it has been leaked that Moore engaged in an affair with a 17-year-old staff member, leading to her pregnancy. The university has been investigating these circumstances, and waited until after National Sining Day to move forward with Moores removal.
It’s unclear what his charges are as of yet, but it’s expected to be related to assault.
Allegedly Moore’s wife, who is the mother to his three children, kicked him out of the house and he proceeded to threaten the life of himself and the wife.
It has also been reported that Moore broke into the house of the potential staff member he had this affair with, and threatened her as well.
However, all of these are allegations, and Moore is to be deemed innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
Lower Dauphin senior Kylie Wilt said that “the allegations are definitely very serious. I’m interested to see what happens next in the process and what his charges may be.”
Lower Dauphin junior Anna Chortanoff said that she “was shocked” when hearing about the firing of Moore.
Moore is expected to be in court today, December 12th, where formal charges and potential bond are expected to be determined.
