Dramapalooza is an annual theatrical event held at Lower Dauphin High School. It includes five, one-act plays directed by LD students. This is the thirteenth year of Dramapalooza.
The first play was called “And the Crew Plays On…” directed by Hope Millar and Elisa Ramirez. The show was about actors becoming sick and the crew forced to play the missing roles. It is a funny and light-hearted Rom-Com following the story of Cinderella.
The second play was called “Dream Girl Drama” directed by Rachel and Sylvia Linell. This show was a comedic love story. A boy is battling between his dream girl. Deciding whether to hurt the girl that loves him, or follow the girl he loves.
The third play was called “Bad Auditions by Bad Actors” directed by Sophia Caugherty and Wren White. This show was a farce where auditions are held to fill the roles of Romeo and Juliet. Each audition went horribly wrong until they found the perfect pair for the role.
The fourth play was called “The Perfect Date” directed by Caleb Gliot. This was also a farce where a boy is asking stereotypes of girls to the school dance. Each girl is a different stereotype including Smart girl, Jock girl, Emo girl, Retro girl, Gospel girl, Popular girl and Music girl.
The final play was called “How to Overthrow Your Student Government in Seven Easy Steps” directed by Alex Elicker. This show is a comedy where Julius Caesar comes back to life to help a high school student win class president.
Dramapalooza 13 also hosted brunch and an award ceremony afterwards. Each award winner was picked by judges: Lorien Reese Majey, Executive Director of Theatre Harrisburg, Paulino Contreras, professional musician and educator, and Victor Capecce, Professor Emeritus of Millersville University, who watched each show to determine the winners.
