Teen safety is important especially when it comes to driving. Motor vehicle injuries are the highest death rate among teenagers ages 13-19.

Many people have had a near incident or incident while driving. These issues can occur from texting while driving, to being distracted by friends or family members.

Learning to drive can be scary and dangerous. Lower Dauphin offers a free program through Shield Driving. It offers a 30-hour online course to help prepare for the road. Most people do not know how Shield was created. 

Programs like Shield Driving were made because of these incidents. Brad Bixler, founder of Shield Driving, was a Central Dauphin Driver Education teacher who believed that this program would allow many students to have access to high quality driving education.

Vehicle safety precautions were implemented as technology has advanced. This has allowed for many lives to be saved.

We now have access to seatbelts and self-driving cars that are able to detect crashes before they even happen. People must understand how much vehicle safety has improved over the last few decades.

These changes have saved millions of lives.
