The 68th annual Grammys took place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, and many Lower Dauphin students were very invested in the event. About 12,000 artists, executives, and industry professionals attended the event at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
The event was hosted by Trevor Noah, who has been the host for the past 5 years. It was aired on CBS for its final year and will be moved to ABC and Disney+ in 2027.
The Grammys featured performances from Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Bruno Mars with ROSÉ, and a special tribute to Ozzy Osbourne performed by Post Malone. There was also a best new artist segment with performances from Addison Rae, Alex Warren, Katseye, Leon Thomas, Lola Young, Olivia Dean, the Marias, and Sombr.
There were 95 categories for awards. Some of the notable awards include Record of the Year, won by SZA and Kendrick Lamar for Luther, Album of the Year, won by Bad Bunny for his album DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, and Song of theYear was awarded to Billie Elish with her song “WILDFLOWER.” Finally, Best New Artist was awarded to Olivia Dean.
Lower Dauphin student Emerson Weikel felt, “Olivia Dean was very deserving of the award, and her song ‘Man I Need’ is a hit.”
The runway was filled with many unique looks, such as Zara Larson’s golden two-piece dress, Sabrina Carpenter’s silver dress with a tiny cape, Olivia Dean’s black and white Feathered dress, and Laufey’s purple tassel dress. Charlotte McClintok says, “ There were so many iconic looks, everyone was so well dressed!”
The Grammys celebrate many talented individuals and their music. Although not everyone agrees with the winners, the awards are an important part of the music industry.
