The House of Representatives is heading towards a vote on a bill that would force the Justice Department to release the case files that have been collected on late financier and sex offender, Jeffery Epstein. This is pushing past a monthslong effort by Trump and Republican leaders to hinder the progress of the release.
This bill would force the Justice Department to release all communications and files related to Epstein as well as any information about the investigation of his death in federal prison. Several survivors of Epstein’s abuse, joined by lawmakers, plan to speak outside of the Capitol.
This coming vote has shown a rare instance where Trump has not been able to exhibit total control of his party, such as strong Republican U.S. Marjorie Taylor Greene who has asked for the release of the files.
On November 18th 2025, the House of Representatives voted on whether to pass the bill or not. The total was 407 Yea’s, 1 Nay, and 25 not voted. While the bill passed in the House, it is unclear whether the Senate will pass it due to the Republican majority of 53-47.
