On September 10th, 2025 the founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated while debating a student at Utah Valley University in Oreom. Within minutes, the internet spread this news like wildfire.
Why shouldn’t it have gotten to this point?
This is not the only time we have seen politicians or political activists be attacked, assassinated, or attempted to be assassinated. Some people online have celebrated his assassination, but this is a true tragedy.
Despite people having different opinions, nobody should be killed for their beliefs. Both parties, Democrats and Republicans, are both placing blame on each other. It should be okay to disagree with someone’s beliefs, but nobody should be killed for expressing themselves.
Placing the blame and spitting venom at each other instead of working together to fix the issue at hand will not make the country any safer. We should treat others with respect, even if their opinions are different. Violence should never be an answer.
A healthy way to disagree with all that is going on is would be separating the person from the politics. Acknowledge that someone died and that their loved ones are grieving while still disagreeing with their ideologies. It is always good to keep an open mind about the heavy topics in the news lately, and not to make matters worse by arguing with others. A person being killed is another life lost, even if you disagree with their politics.
