It is officially December, and Hummelstown is starting to spread some Christmas cheer. During the Christmas season the community starts to get all of their holiday lights out, and so does downtown Hummelstown. 

Over the weekend on December 4th, Hummelstown had their annual Hummelstown Holiday Happenings event and ended it with the lighting of the Christmas tree. The tree lighting is an event at the very end of the day that rings in the season and brings the whole community together once again. 

This tradition is special because it is a time for all of the businesses in Hummelstown to get recognized and get the community together. All of the businesses get together to share and celebrate with the citizens. Businesses normally have crafts or food set out for people to visit and see what each business brings to the community, this lasts all day. When the sun starts to set and the Christmas lights come on, it is time to light the Christmas tree. Every year, Miss Hummelstown has the honor of lighting the tree and ringing in the holiday season.
