The 2023-24 NBA season is starting this year and with it comes new superteams and contenders. Many blockbuster moves happened this offseason including Bradley Beal being traded to the Suns and Damian Lillard being traded to the Bucks.
Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets are the defending NBA champions being led by two-time MVP Nikola Jokic. He is a playmaking center that makes everyone around him play better. He almost averaged a triple double last year with 24.5 points per game, 11.8 rebounds per game and 9.8 assists per game. They also have star point guard Jamal Murray to help out Jokic who also averaged 20 points per game last season. They have great depth and the role players are all capable of scoring 30 on any given night. They will have harder competition this year but they will be a tough team to beat.
Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks pulled off the biggest deal of the year recently, acquiring Damian Lillard from the Bucks while only giving up Jrue Holiday and some picks. Lillard is one of the best scorers in the league and will provide a much needed boost for shooting. He fits great with their star player, two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. Giannis has carried the Bucks to being one of the premier teams in the league while also winning the chip two years ago. They will also be paired up with Brook Lopez who was second in defensive player of the year voting last year and Khris Middleton who is a former all star but is getting old and is on the decline. The Bucks will be the frontrunner to the finals this year but that all depends on how Lillard and Antetokounmpo play together.
Phoenix Suns
The Suns already had plenty of star power with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant but adding Bradley Beal has put them in the superteam range. Kevin Durant is one of the best players in the league and Devin Booker has been leading the Suns for many years. Bradley Beal was the best player on the Wizards for most of his career and has averaged more than thirty points more than once. They also traded DeAndre Ayton for veteran Jusuf Nurkic. Injuries and chemistry will be a concern for the Suns but if they are able to stay healthy and play well together they may be unstoppable.
