Through Week 3 of the 2023 NFL Season, there are only three teams left with an undefeated record—the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins.
The Dolphins just came off of a ginormous game against the Denver Broncos winning 70-20. Starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa had 309 passing yards with four touchdown passes. Backup quarterback Mike White even came in and threw a touchdown. De’Von Achane had 203 rushing yards and four total touchdowns. Tyreek Hill looked like an unstoppable duo with Tagovailoa getting 157 receiving yards with nine catches. They did all of this without star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. When he returns from injury, the Dolphins might have themselves one of the best offenses ever.
The 49ers defense is shutting teams down even more than last year and is having the offense to back it up. Star running back Christian McCaffery is playing great as a dual threat in the passing game and the running game. Quarterback Brock Purdy is not playing amazing but with the weapons on the team he has not had to play great yet. When the 49ers go against another powerhouse team though Purdy may have to step up his playing level.
The Eagles had two shaky wins but bounced back this week with a comfortable win against the 2-0 Buccaneers. Jalen Hurts did throw two interceptions but they mostly dominated with the rushing game. D’Andre Swift is proving himself to be the number one back with back to back great performances. DeVonta Smith was quiet this game but AJ Brown returned to last year’s form with 131 receiving yards. The defense has been playing well to make up for the offense’s recent struggles and came in clutch with a safety after Hurts’ second interception. They will have to step up their play if they want to win the Super Bowl this year, though.
