Personality tests are a great way to gain insight into yourself and how you view the world. Meyers-Briggs personality tests give users a result using four letters, such as ISTP. Each letter says something about you, and each letter has different rarity in the population.

  1. E vs. I

The first letter you’ll get in a personality test is either “E” or “I”, for “Extravert” or “Introvert”. 49.3% of the population tests as an extravert, while 50.7% tests as an introvert. Typical personality results will include a specific ratio of introvert to extravert qualities, with the larger number determining the first letter of your personality type. Most people test with a close ratio, while extreme cases of either side is less common.

  1. S vs. N

The second letter of your personality type is either “S” or “N”. The “S” stands for “Sensing”, and represents that you like to rely on cold, hard facts and proof. The “N” represents “Intuition”, and shows that you prefer digging deeper into more abstract concepts and have a more creative personality. The numbers on this aspect of the personality test are much less balanced as the first, with 73.3% of the population testing as a “sensing” individual and only 26.7% testing as an “intuitive” personality type.

  1. T vs. F

The third letter of the personality type is either “T” or “F”, representing that you are either a “Thinking” or “Feeling” individual. The majority of the population relies more on their feelings, with 59.8% of the population getting “Feeling” results and 40.2% getting “Thinking” results.

  1. J vs. P

The last letter of the personality type is either a J or a P, and represents “Judging” and “Perceiving”. 54.1% of the population is a “Judging” type, while 45.9% falls into the “Perceiving” category.

There are 16 personality types, but they are not equally common throughout the population. Below is a list of the personality types from most common to least common.
