Anxiety disorders are marked when people struggle with persistent and excessive worries. Someone with anxiety has extreme fears about the way other people look at them, or a fear that something will go wrong . According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one-fifth of children worldwide now show elevated symptoms, then what’s considered normal, according to a study done in 20021. In the US 9.4% of children ages 3-17 were diagnosed with anxiety between 2016-2019. That is around 5.8 million kids. Some anxiety symptoms to look for if you or a loved one think that you might be struggling are; difficulty concentrating, trouble sleeping, bed-wetting, bad dreams, not eating properly, clinginess, lack of confidence, avoidance of everyday activities, inability to talk in social situations, and being reassurance seeking. To be able to tell anxiety in a child, look for when a child avoids anxiety- inducing situations, however when they do this, it will only make their fears bigger and bigger, so it is good to take care of it while they are younger and try to fix the problem.
