In a contest between two rival schools, LD falls short against Palmyra in a 34-50 loss. This game was an important one for the Falcons, not only being a bout between rival schools, but a victory here would grant LD a winning record for the season. The Falcons maintained a close first half of basketball, though Palmyra seemed to thoroughly adapt moving into the games latter half. “It started out the way typically our season has been starting out every game, we play well for the first to quarters and then for whatever reason the third and fourth quarters we struggle a little bit with execution and sometimes teams make plays and we don’t and it’s been an Achilles heel for us,” said Falcons head coach Rick Attivo when asked his thoughts on the game. “Some of the stuff we repped at practice over the Christmas break didn’t translate onto the floor so we got to figure out why that’s not translating.” Despite a tough loss, LD saw some great performances from some of their players both offensively and defensively. “You look at Brady Hofsass, I thought he did some good things for us. Nico DeFrank, he has a high ceiling. There’s some things I know that he’s capable of, he hasn’t even touched the tip of the iceberg yet for him. You get guys like Chase Smith and Charley Fortney trying to lead us a little bit… we had some injuries early on so we’re hoping to get some of these guys into basketball shape maybe they can help us.” Overall, the Falcons keep a positive attitude moving forward into the season with their next game on quickly approaching on the 7th against Cedar Crest.
