This past week, Donald Trump sued Hillary Clinton for plotting to rig the 2016 election. The lawsuit came a day after the release of a letter from a prosecutor in New York who said he believed Trump was “guilty of numerous felony violations,” in his business affairs. Trump is suing Clinton for “racketeering” and a “conspiracy to commit injurious falsehood.” among other claims. It was a 108 page lawsuit and was followed by suits alleging Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election. Out of the 62 suits, only one succeeded. The lawsuit was filed in Florida. A New Jersey attorney has represented Trump and is trying to block the investigation of the January 6th capitol riot. Russia has denied interfering in the 2016 election, but the US intelligence community has agreed that they did. Trump’s new lawsuit claims that in the run-up to the 2016 election, “Hillary Clinton and her cohorts orchestrated an unthinkable plot- one that shocks the conscience and is an affront to this nation’s democracy.” Some republican leadership reportedly fear Trump’s grip on the party and fixation on Clinton, 2016 and supposed electoral fraud could cost the GOP dearly in elections this year and in 2024.
