Vols pull off the upset against the Crimson Tide
October 18, 2022
On Saturday October 15th, the Tennessee Volunteers hosted Bryce Young and the Alabama Crimson Tide. This arguably could have been one of the greatest games in college football history. In an all offensive game, the Vols won on a game winning field goal, 52-49. The Vols’ star quarterback, Hendon Hooker, led his team to a demanding win over star Bryce Young and the Crimson Tide. Hooker threw for 385 yards and a whopping 5 touchdowns. Hooker threw his first interception of the season. Hooker was only sacked once all game. On the other side of the ball Bryce Young threw for 455 yards and 2 touchdowns. Although both QBs had outstanding games I think the player of this game is junior wide receiver, Jalin Hyatt. Hyatt got all 5 of Hookers touchdowns on Saturday helping Tennessee get the win over Alabama. Hyatt caught 6 receptions for a total of 5 touchdowns. Hyatt racked up 207 yards to give him the most receiving yards in the SEC, at 595 yards, this season. The Vols jumped up to the number three spot in the new AP poll. Although the Vols play Tennessee-Martin this week, they have two big SEC games after. They will host rival Kentucky on October 29, and then travel to Athens to play the Georgia Bulldogs. If the Vols can win both those games they have a very good chance of making the College Football Playoff.
