Alarm for 6:00 AM

Sage M.

You go back to school shopping for clothes and school supplies. You prepare for school physically to look good and be prepared, but do you prepare mentally? School, let’s be honest, is draining. I think students should also start mentally preparing for school. Everything that goes into school works your mental game. A normal day as a student can include waking up at 6:00am, being at school for 7 hours then after school playing a sport which includes practice or a game. Then do your homework, shower, and spend time with family. Not getting to bed until at least 11:00pm, and then having to get up and do it all over again. This time schedule is with no breaks to relax. If this schedule sounds familiar to you then you are probably working your mental health. While students always get asked the question, “Are you ready for school”? The answer is normally “no” or “I’m excited to see my friends.” Kids say no because we know all the pressure and mental stress we are about to endure by starting school again. This is trying not to be pessimistic about school, but giving the reality of most students’ lives during the school year. There are plenty of positives to the school experience that also keep students going. Positives could be playing a sport, Joining a club, meeting new people, and seeing your friends.
