For the First time in Shank Park History LD beats Hershey the boy’s cross country meet September 12, 2017, and covers first, second, and third place! Coach Butler, along with the entirety of the cross country team spent the rest of the night filled to the brim with Falcon Pride!  Although there was a major change in course this year, our boys brought home the bacon!

All three runners agreed that the change in course was a bit of a curveball, but found that they excelled in their hardships. Giannascoli beams, “It was one of the harder courses I’ve done, but it was a very great day because we went one two three, and that’s the best you could do.” The athletes started training officially as a team at the end of June, and were really happy that all of their hard work payed off. Coach Butler said, “We met monday through friday at 8:00 am starting in late june, through august.” he happily continued to boast, ”27 of our athletes went to cross country camp together at the end of july, which was a great bonding  experience, and it’s always a great week of the summer.” The Lower Dauphin athletes are super committed to what they do, and their hard work and concentration pays off!

“Our guys came in today with the idea that there weren’t going to be any excuses, and ya know we weren’t going to use that as a crutch, the best team was gonna win. And the best team did.” – Coach Butler

Along with boys, the Girl’s found the new course to feel backwards. Sydney Koons came in first for the Lower Dauphin girls, and said, “Running, well it did okay, we definitely thought we could do better than that. It’s a very hilly course, and they- Hershey is a really good team. We were happy about how we did against Redland, but yeah, it didn’t feel too bad today.” Some of the other runners described the course to be more hilly, shorted and backwards. The course had new turns and had clipped some older sections out that will not be used this season.

Koons concludes, “Coach Butler really pushes us hard in the summer and that’s mostly, ya know where champions are built.”
