“Why you stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf herder!” “Aren’t you a little short for a stormtrooper?” “I was getting along fine before I met you two moon jockeys!” I don’t know where you get your delusions laser brain.” “Looks like you managed to cut off our only escape route.”

These and other delightfully sassy comments come from a Star Wars favourite leading lady, Princess Leia Organa. As a prominent character in the Star Wars universe her essentially cannot be overstated. The global audience saw her take her place as general of the rebellion and eventual legend in the resistance. Equally sharp-witted and humorous was Carrie Fisher, the actress who portrayed her. Fisher passed away in 2016, leaving a gaping absence in her wake. The timing of her death did not interfere with the filming of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, making it her final appearance as Leia. Production will not be recreating her likeness with CGI for Episode IV, which has not yet been named. Not all of the timing was fortunate, Episode IV was suppose to be centered around Leia Organa, as Episode VIII will be centered around Luke and VII around Han. Due to her sudden death, this will not be so. Artists around the world pay tribute to Fisher with stunning pieces of art. Memorials of the actress and character beloved by the world. The best way to remember Carrie Fisher is not to mourn her loss, but her hold her character Leia to an even higher esteem.
